Two movies that really spoke to me and my sister, both born in the early 80s, were Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and it's sequel Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. And 30-ish years later, we still quote it to each other in our own secret language of movie dialogue.
So imagine my extreme delight, and texts to my sister in ALL CAPS, when the rumors of B&T 3 swirling in the mists of Hollywood became a little more tangible when those in the know confirmed that Bill and Ted were ready to jump back into our lives for a third movie, Bill and Ted Face the Music.
So I set myself the challenge: have fun and design the title treatment for Bill and Ted Face the Music. Here's a chance to splash around in my own childhood and see how clean (or durrrtyyyy) I come out on the other side.
Ted, you're metal, dude!
Pretty easy moodboard I put together. They love metal and the metal genre has some super iconic logos and I was wicked excited to try these stylistic choices on for size. My favorite was this crazy blackletter-ish lowercase script from Judas Priest. I used that as the base for the subtitle, it just had such great qualities to play with.
And, of course, for the main Bill & Ted lettering, you can't go wrong with a little mix of AC/DC and Iron Maiden, excellent! I would love to dip back into this style and maybe next time I go even more extreme on the spikes and angles!
